From Lambton County -Bases
Kari Chervinsky, P.Eng., holds a degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Western Ontario. She began her career as a Process Engineer at the Suncor Energy Refinery in Sarnia and has built a 24‑year career encompassing a wide range of technical, operational, and leadership roles. Her experience includes serving as Contact Engineer, Laboratory Manager, Shift Supervisor, Operational Excellence Coordinator, and Operations Program Group Manager. Most recently, she spent seven years as Operations Manager for the Offsites area, overseeing wastewater treatment, tankage, marine, rail, and trucking operations.
-Kari is currently the Environmental Programs Manager at BASES (Bluewater Association for Safety, Environment, and Sustainability), on secondment from Suncor. BASES is Sarnia‑Lambton’s industry partner, bringing together industry, labour, contractors, and the community to advance worker safety, emergency preparedness, environmental monitoring, and public transparency. The organization builds on the legacy of CAER, SLEA, and IEC, and plays a central role in regional air quality monitoring, emergency notification systems, safety training, and industry–community engagement.
-Kari is married to Stan, and together they have two children, Nathan and Kaley. As a family, they enjoy boating, curling, volleyball, and are enthusiastic roller‑coaster fans.
